The President of the German Weightlifting Federation commends the European Championship in Armenia

YEREVAN, APRIL 17, ARMENPRESS. President of the German Weightlifting Federation, member of the International Weightlifting Federation's executive board, Florian Sperl highly praises the organizational work of the European Weightlifting Championship in Armenia, noting that all the conditions have been created for the participating teams to conduct proper training and participate in the championship, Florian Sperl said in an interview with ARMENPRESS.

- Mr. Sperl, this was your first visit to Armenia. What is your impression about our country?

- Yes, I am here for the first time. I should mention that I was received very well. Starting from the airport to the hotel, here at the sports and concert complex, I received exceptionally high-quality, first-class hospitality. I am very touched by the warm attitude of Armenians, you are a very open and kind nation. I feel very good in Armenia, I am also thinking about my next visit, which will be not only for work, but also for leisure.

- You have been to many countries of the world, participated in many championships. What parallels can you draw?

- Before coming to Armenia, I managed to learn through the official website what preparatory work was done in Armenia, including the marketing work. It was an impressive job. For example, the online sale of tickets, as well as the barbells installed in the subway cars, were presented in a very interesting way. I had never seen anything like it before. At every step there are also panels telling about the event, which is also very important. I can definitely state that this mood is present everywhere in Armenia, Armenia is a sports country, everyone here is aware of this sport. By the way, I am speaking not only of my own feelings, but also of our team's opinion. Starting from transportation to getting on the platform, our team did not have any problems. Everything was done so that the teams could train properly and participate in the competitions.

- Are there any problems that the members of your team are talking about?

- I cannot single out any problem, there was no such incident. By the way, there are also many security guards here. I have never seen such a number of security guards at any event. It is very good, it shows that all kinds of risks are taken into account here, so that no problems arise suddenly. As I already mentioned, our team feels very good in Armenia and does not have any problems.

- In your opinion, hosting this championship, can other similar events be organized in Armenia?

- What I saw here proves that Armenia can also organize bigger events. I am also receiving positive signals from my colleagues in Germany who are following the event. You know, European championships are not always held in such conditions. I wish great success to the Armenian national team, not only in this competition, but also during the Olympic Games. I also want to thank the Government of Armenia, the interdepartmental commission for the preparation and organization of the championship and to all those persons whose efforts made the tournament a reality.
