YEREVAN, APRIL 17, ARMENPRESS. Armenian gymnast Artur Davtyan says competition at the 2023 European Artistic Gymnastic Championships where he won gold was tough.
Speaking to reporters in Yerevan after returning from Antalya, where the tournament was held, Davtyan said the struggle was rather difficult against the UK’s athlete in the vault.
“I was able to perform in the vault what I’ve been practicing during training. I am happy and proud to have been able to win. I am also happy to have been able to raise our flag in Turkey. But the venue doesn’t matter here, what matters is that you win all across Europe,” Davtyan said.
Speaking about his result in the pommel horse exercise and the poor results of the other athletes in Team Armenia, Davtyan said he’s sad that his teammates didn’t achieve success. “But at least I was able to make a clean performance. I took bronze thanks to my clean performance,” he said.
