Over 2,300 preliminary customs declarations filed in 2022 – State Revenue Committee

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 14, ARMENPRESS. The State Revenue Committee introduced the preliminary customs declaration system in 2022 as part of customs reforms.

The system allows eligible business operators to file their customs declarations to the Armenian customs agency 24/7 before their goods cross the border into Armenia.

The system is designed to evaluate risks, accelerate the paperwork without additional payments. In case of having filed the preliminary declaration, customs clearance is carried out at the border customs checkpoints as a priority. Thus, importers will no longer have to store their goods in temporary warehouses, visit the customs departments and make any additional payments for storage.

The system has cut the border crossing – customs clearance time from 20-70 hours to 2-3 hours on an average.

In 2022, over 2,300 preliminary declarations were registered, most of which (1,509) were filed in the previous yearend.

Importers simply have to visit trade.gov.am to use the system, and file the declaration to the customs checkpoint through which they intend to import goods.
