GAVAR, DECEMBER 14, ARMENPRESS. Ambassador of China to Armenia Fan Yong visited Gegharkunik province. He was received by Governor of the province Karen Sargsyan, the Governor’s Office said.
The meeting was also attended by Gavar community leader Gurgen Martirosyan, the representative of the Chinese Ministry of Defense, the military attaché and other officials.
The Governor of Gegharkunik introduced the Chinese Ambassador on the investment programs being implemented with the support of the Armenian government, the economic potential of the province and the current situation in the border settlements of the province resulting from the latest Azerbaijani aggression.
“This year marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and China, and on this occasion I want to congratulate all of us, although the Armenian-Chinese relations have a history of millennia. During those years the Armenian-Chinese cooperation has steadily developed, and I would like very much to see a decentralized cooperation established between the Gegharkunik province and any Chinese province or a city. The Governorate of Gegharkunik is ready to create a reliable platform for that cooperation and assist the ongoing programs as much as it can”, Karen Sargsyan said.
In his turn the Chinese Ambassador expressed readiness to assist the creation of the decentralized cooperation.
“China has cooperation with Armenia in different areas of economy, and taking into account the opportunities and potential of Gegharkunik province, there is a desire to do that new cooperation especially in agriculture and tourism sectors”, Fan Tong said.
Following the meeting, the Chinese delegation visited the agricultural college in Gavar, then N2 secondary school, where the Ambassador said he will assist organizing teaching of Chinese in this educational facility.
At the invitation of the Ambassador, the Governor of Gegharkunik will soon visit the Embassy of China in Armenia to discuss the future actions connected with the launch of the decentralized cooperation.
