French National Assembly unanimously adopts resolution proposing sanctions against Azerbaijan

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS. The National Assembly (lower house) of the Parliament of France unanimously adopted a resolution supporting Armenia and calling for sanctions against Azerbaijan, the Armenian Embassy in France said.

The resolution calls for immediately and unconditionally releasing and returning all Armenian prisoners of war to the homeland, proposes the government to consider the possibility of imposing individual sanctions in case of continuation of attacks on and occupation of Armenia’s sovereign territory by Azerbaijan.

The resolution also calls on the government to continue the mediating efforts aimed at solving the security issue of the Armenian population of Nagorno Karabakh according to the provisions of N502 resolution of the National Assembly of 2020 (this resolution calls on the government to recognize Nagorno Karabakh).

The document proposes the government to consider the possibility of strengthening Armenia’s defense capacities.

It also calls on international organizations to take all measures to preserve the Armenian cultural and religious heritage in the territories of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh which have come under the control of Azerbaijan.

The resolution was submitted by the ruling Renaissance parliamentary group of the National Assembly.

Armenia’s Ambassador to France and the embassy staff were attending the National Assembly session on the adoption of the resolution as guests.
