At least 9 dead, including 4 children, in Russia apartment building gas explosion

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 19, ARMENPRESS. At leastnine people died in a gas explosion at a five-story apartment block on Sakhalin Island in Russia on Saturday, RT reported citing a statement from regional governor Valery Limarenko.

Limarenko wrote on his Telegram channel thatfour children are among the victims. The incident took place in the small town of Tymovskoye.

He added that the apartment complex had 33 residents, two of whom are still trapped under the rubble, as rescuers continue to look for survivors.

A faulty gas tank is believed to be the cause of the explosion, according to TASS news agency.
