Armenia has serial production of several military-grade systems, including UAVs – Vice Speaker

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 16, ARMENPRESS. Funding for the military-industrial complex, scientific-research and prototype development programs grew 4 times in 2023 compared to 2017, totaling over 6,8 billion drams, Vice Speaker of Parliament Hakob Arshakyan said in parliament during debates of the 2023 state budget.

“In order for our citizens and the business community to have a clear understanding of the meaning of the scientific-research and prototype development programs, these are funding projects for products of military needs, as well as various proposed innovative advanced products, which are discussed by the defense ministry, the science committee and the ministry of high tech industry, and the companies which are approved during the committee hearings get the funding. I want to specially emphasize that nearly all prototypes that passed the state testing process were funded by the military-industrial committee. Today, it is already possible to test many of these developments in real conditions and with military testing in place today there are several orders among companies for serial production,” Arshakyan said.

The prototypes are no longer test orders, rather serial orders from the defense ministry.

“We can say that today there are several production lines in Armenia, including serial production of unmanned aerial vehicles, radio-locating systems, optical night-vision and surveillance systems and a number of other armaments, which successfully passed state and military testing and are being supplied,” Arshakyan said.
