YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 15, ARMENPRESS. The citizens of Artsakh who were displaced as a result of the 2020 war held a demonstration outside the French Embassy in Yerevan and handed over a petition in support of a resolution which is expected to be debated at the French Senate on November 15.
For Hadrut NGO leader Levon Hayriyan told reporters that over 1700 people have signed the petition.

“We, the signatory citizens of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh and the Republic of Armenia, express our gratitude to the French Senate, the political forces of the country and personally the President of France Emmanuel Macron for their stance in the Karabakh conflict settlement issue. We hope that this initiative won’t be the last one, especially that the current situation in the region requires this. We are sure that the resolution of the French Senate will become a firm platform for the fair resolution of the Karabakh conflict,” reads the petition.

On November 15, lawmakers in the French Senate will debate a resolution calling for sanctions against Azerbaijan for its attack on Armenia, immediate withdrawal of the Azeri forces from occupied territories of Armenia and adherence to the ceasefire agreement. The resolution will also propose the French government to open a humanitarian office in Artsakh.
