Ombudswoman will soon release ad hoc report presenting facts on anti-Armenian manifestations in Azerbaijan

GYUMRI, NOVEMBER 4, ARMENPRESS. The Office of Human Rights Defender of Armenia will soon publish an ad hoc report presenting facts about the anti-Armenian manifestations in Azerbaijan, Ombudswoman Kristinne Grigoryan told reporters at a briefing in Gyumri city.

She said that her Office continues the works on collecting facts about the tortures of Armenian prisoners of war and civilian captives held in Azerbaijan, as well as is working with various international organizations, different countries and embassies which are somehow engaged in the negotiations.

“You are aware that 17 persons have returned, but it’s painful that we still have captives in Azerbaijan, most of whom are from the Shirak province. Our works in collecting facts under the light of international rights continue. In this respect we are in active touch with the US Embassy and the Delegation of the European Union to increase the international pressure which should eventually lead to the return of our boys”, Kristinne Grigoryan said, adding that they also work with the families of the captives.

“As of this moment we know the needs of almost all families, social, economic, psychological, etc. In line with it, we are also trying to present proposals to the government for the support, compensations or other programs. We will soon release an ad hoc report based on our individual interviews with those 17 returned POWs, presenting facts about the anti-Armenian manifestations in Azerbaijan. The report will be presented to the international community. These activities must not stop”, she said, adding that in addition to the confirmed captives, there are also other captives in Azerbaijan but their authorities deny it, although there are sufficient evidences that these persons are in captivity in Azerbaijan.
