Police Chief of Armenia awards Secretary General of Interpol with the Medal for Strengthening Cooperation

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 27, ARMENPRESS. Interpol Secretary General Jürgen Stock arrived in Armenia on October 27 on a two-day working visit at the invitation of Police Chief of Armenia Vahe Ghazaryan. As ARMENPRESS was informed from the Police of Armenia, Police Chief of Armenia, Police Major General Vahe Ghazaryan received him.

The head of the Armenian police, the Secretary General of Interpol and members of the police collegium laid a wreath and bowed flowers at the memorial to the memory of the policemen who died while performing their official duties.

Police Chief Vahe Ghazaryan, welcoming Jürgen Stock, highly appreciated the role and contribution of the International Criminal Police Organization, Interpol, in the fight against international crime.

Vahe Ghazaryan noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Interpol National Central Bureau in Armenia. He emphasized that active cooperation is being implemented in the fight against areas of crime, such as cybercrime and financial crimes committed using digital technologies, illegal drug trafficking, and organized crime.

Interpol Secretary General Jürgen Stock, thanking for the warm welcome, pointed out several areas of important cooperation. He noted that 2023 marks the 100th anniversary of Interpol, and the key to the organization's effective operation is the work and close cooperation of Interpol's National Central Bureaus of the member states.

Jürgen Stock also spoke about new types of crime. The parties discussed the issues related to the fight against them.

At the end of the meeting, Police Chief of Armenia Vahe Ghazaryan awarded Interpol Secretary General Jürgen Stock with the Medal For Strengthening Cooperation.

Interpol Secretary General Jürgen Stock, accompanied by Vahe Ghazaryan, visited the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Armenia, where they got acquainted with the work of the unit.
