YEREVAN, OCTOBER 8, ARMENPRESS. Member of the German Bundestag (parliament) Till Mansman welcomed Armenia and Azerbaijan’s agreement to respect each other’s borders, at the same time clearly emphasized the fact that Azerbaijan has attacked Armenia and that the reports on gross violations of human rights during military actions must be investigated.
“The agreement gives grounds to hope that the destabilization of the South Caucasus region, which was caused as a result of Azerbaijan’s attack against Armenia, can be resolved diplomatically. Reports on horrific violations of human rights related to this military action must now be thoroughly investigated. Criminal prosecution must be conducted for crimes committed during and after combat, and the international community must not be indifferent towards it,” the lawmaker said in a statement.
He emphasized that respect for any country’s sovereignty and the rule of non-use of force in accordance with international law must be strongly preserved.
The Bundestag MP thanked French President Emmanuel Macron for his quick and intense work. Mansman, the Chairman of the German-Armenian Forum, called on the German federal government to join this work and actively support the peace process in South Caucasus.
