Parliamentary inquiry into 2020 war to get extended

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 4, ARMENPRESS. Member of Parliament, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Defense and Security Andranik Kocharyan proposed lawmakers to extend by another 6 months the term of the parliamentary commission probing the circumstances of the 44-Day War.

He said that there is a need to obtain numerous other documents and data from the defense ministry and other agencies after the examination of thousands of pages of classified information.

The commission is now studying new documents and combining data.

Kocharyan described it as a “rather difficult, extensive, lengthy and responsible” work, based on which it is possible to identify the persons who are subject to investigation by the commission. The commission has already summoned two people, one of whom is former foreign minister Vartan Oskanian, who refused to make an appearance.
