Pelosi’s Armenia visit wasn’t anti-Russian, says Pashinyan

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 30, ARMENPRESS. US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Armenia was not anti-Russian and there shouldn’t be anti-Russian contexts in it, the visit was a step aimed at deepening the Armenian-American relations and this step should not be underestimated, PM Nikol Pashinyan said.

“I don’t understand the reasoning. What has the House Speaker’s visit have to do with some moods? American officials are always visiting Armenia,” Pashinyan said during an interview.

He said that the issues of intensifying the Armenian-American relations were discussed. “Let me remind that in 2019 the Armenia-US Strategic Dialogue was launched. I mean that this must be perceived as an individual event. But on the other hand it is obvious that this visit was a very important and major event. Why? Because Nancy Pelosi is the highest ranking US official to ever visit Armenia. I’d like to note that this wasn’t a regional visit, but specifically a visit to Armenia. It was mentioned that this is an assessment of Armenia’s democracy. I wouldn’t want anyone to give an anti-Russian context to the visit, because it wasn’t anti-Russian,” Pashinyan said.
