Ex-Ombudsman of Armenia presents Azerbaijani war crimes at conference in US

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 28, ARMENPRESS. Former Human Rights Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan, the director of the Center for Law and Justice: Tatoyan Foundation, participated in a high-level conference in Los Angeles at the invitation of the National Committee of America-Western Region (ANCA Western Region), the Center said in a news release.

In his remarks Tatoyan presented in details the incursions of the Azerbaijani forces into Armenia’s sovereign territory from the period of 2021 May 12-2020 September 15, based on the results of fact-finding works.

In particular, he showed on the map the Azerbaijani deployments, as well as the fact that the Azerbaijani attacks on Armenia this September have been launched from the locations where they are still deployed since May 2020.

Tatoyan also presented the evidence of destruction of civilian settlements, torture of servicemen, dismembering their bodies and other Azerbaijani war crimes. He also showed the evidence of Azerbaijani Armenophobia and hostility.

“This state-sponsored policy not only does not decline, but has further deepened serving as a tool to maintain the power and reaching to fascism. The talk concerns all areas, starting from all levels of education up to culture, and has both religious and ethnic bases.

The Azerbaijani armed forces take videos and photos of their atrocities and publish them in order to be praised in their own society and to terrorize the Armenian society and cause psychological suffering.

These atrocities are not separate crimes, but the consequences of a united policy, key parts of a united chain”, Arman Tatoyan said.

He emphasized that the Azerbaijani authorities, the perpetrators of these crimes must be held accountable, as real peace is impossible without it, according to him. He added that the Azerbaijani top leadership is proud that it grows generations who are full of hatred against Armenians.
