Fires resulting from Azeri shelling put out

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 16, ARMENPRESS. 195 residential buildings, including homes, a town hall, schools, a medical clinic, barns and other facilities were damaged in Gegharkunik province, namely in Verin Shorzha, Kut, Sotk and Ayrk from the Azerbaijani bombardments, the Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Davit Hambaryan said at a press conference.

“Electricity lines in Nerkin Shorzha and Kut were damaged, the Charents Street in Vardenis was bombarded, a civilian vehicle was hit in Kut village. Villages in Gegharkunik are mostly affected,” he said.

Two ambulance vehicles were hit in Kapan and the Noravan-Aghitu road was also damaged.

In Jermuk, guest homes, a health spa, the firefighting department building and the cableway administrative building were hit. Gas supply lines and power lines were also damaged. Two shells hit the Kechut reservoir.

5 grasslands in Syunik, 7 grasslands and 3 forested areas in Vayots Dzor caught fire from the shelling.

All fires were put out with the exception of one in the Jermuk forests.

The ministry’s psychological support team and first-responders are at the border zone.
