Parliamentary Standing Committee Chair says Armenian Armed Forces brought back 6 military positions

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 16, ARMENPRESS. International reactions condemning the Azerbaijani aggression are directly linked with the implementation of clear defense actions by the armed forces of Armenia, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defense and Security Affairs Andranik Kocharyan said, commenting on yesterday’s UN Security Council meeting convened after Azerbaijan’s attack on Armenia.

“These reactions at international platforms are directly connected with the implementation of clear defense actions of our Armed Forces. If we didn’t fight the way we did, there won’t have been these reactions”, he said.

Commenting on the fact that the Azerbaijani side has occupied 10 square km of territory in Armenia and their strategic significance, Kocharyan said. “Every territory, where we have been present, had a strategic significance. And it is noticeable with these actions that Azerbaijan, more likely, is attempting to further improve its border positions before entering the demarcation stage. But after that there have been positions which came under our control again as a result of our actions, the talk is about 6 positions. It’s very possible that this will change again”, he said, attaching importance to the observance of the ceasefire regime.
