Armenia downs several UAVs amid Azerbaijani attack, images show remnants of Israeli-made drone

YEREVAN, JULY 13, ARMENPRESS. The Armenian Armed Forces have shot down not one but several Azerbaijani unmanned aerial vehicles amid the cross-border fighting when Azerbaijani troops launched an attack on an Armenian military position in the direction of Tavush province.

“As of this moment we have downed not one but several UAVs, one of them a kamikaze drone. All adversary actions have basically been suppressed in their logic,” lawmaker Andranik Kocharyan, the Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Defense and Security Affairs, said at a session.

Images of one of the downed drones shows the remnants of what appears to be either a Thunder-B recon drone, or a Skystriker combat drone (loitering munition) – both of Israeli production.

Azerbaijan had also deployed the Thunder-B drones during the 2016 clashes, known as the April War.

The Skystrikers are comparably new weapons, and Azerbaijan displayed it in its arsenal in 2019 January.
