COVID-19 latest updates: Confirmed cases in US surpass 1,5 million

YEREVAN, MAY 18, ARMENPRESS. The number of people infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) around the world has surpassed 4 million 805 thousand, according to the data released by coronavirus research centers.
The death toll is over 316,000.
1 million 860 thousand 036 patients have recovered.
USis leading in the world in terms of the largest number of infected people (1 million 527 thousand 664 confirmed cases). 90,978 deaths were reported.
Then comesRussiawhich confirmed 281,752 cases. The total number of deaths in Russia is 2,631.
The next is Spain. The total number of cases in Spain has reached 277,719. 27,650 patients have died so far.
UK confirmed 243,695 cases. The death toll has reached 34,636. UK has reported most death cases in Europe, and 2nd in the world after the USA.
The next is Brazil with a total of 241,080 cases and 16,122 deaths.
Italy recorded 225,435 confirmed cases and 31,908 deaths.
France reported 179,569 cases and 28,108 deaths.
Germany confirmed 176,651 cases and 8,049 deaths.
Turkey has recorded 149,435 cases. The deaths comprise 4,140.
Iran recorded 120,198 cases. 6,988 people have died in Iran from coronavirus.
China, where the COVID-19 outbreak started, confirmed a total of 82,954 cases. 7 new cases have been confirmed in the country in the past one day. The death toll here is 4,634.
Georgiaconfirmed 695 cases of coronavirus and 12 deaths.
Among the Arab states Qatar overtook theUnited Arab Emirates(UAE) with the most confirmed cases – 32,604. The death toll has reached 15 in Qatar. The number of infected people in the UAE is 23,358. 220 death cases have been registered here. In Kuwait the number of confirmed cases is 14,850, that of the deaths is 112. Egyptreported 12,229 confirmed cases and 630 deaths. Iraqconfirmed 3,404 cases and 123 deaths. 911 cases have been reported in Lebanon, the deaths comprise 26. Syria’s confirmed cases reached 58. 3 death cases have been registered.
