Prosecution’s duty is to present documents relating to Kostanyan, says Prosecutor General

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 29, ARMENPRESS. The duty of the Office of the Prosecutor is to present all the documents relating to former prosecutor general Gevorg Kostanyan, who is involved in the 2008 March 1 case as a defendant, and all the remaining procedures are the right of every sovereign state, Prosecutor General of Armenia Artur Davtyan told reporters today.

“There are defined procedures, and our duty is to ensure these procedures and present all the necessary documents. In such situations every country makes sovereign decisions, although this sovereignty is not completely unlimited. Conventions have clear and categorical regulations, and these issues must be solved in this way in every similar cases”, he said.

Former Prosecutor General of Armenia Gevorg Kostanyan, who is involved in the 2008 March 1 case as a defendant, has been declared wanted on November 29. A motion has been filed to the court to remand Kostanyan into custody.

Back in September 2019 Kostanyan had been invited to the Special Investigation Service. He had told that he is abroad and will return in a few days.
