Yanukovych suggests referendum for Donbass status

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 22, ARMENPRESS. Former President of Ukraine Viktor Yankukovych suggested a number of measures for settling the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine, in case of Kiev’s failing to implement the Minsk agreements he advised to hold a referendum over the status of Donbass.

“Involve representatives of the complaining side in the ongoing talks within the Normandy format, who represent the people of Donbass, and in case of Ukraine’s current leadership fails to implement the Minsk agreements initiate a referendum over the status of Donbass”, Yanukovych said in an open address to leaders of Poland, France and Germany, leaders of NGOs, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump.

Yanukovych suggested forming a special commission of the Council of Europe to monitor the investigation of crimes in during Maidan, Interfax reports.
