YEREVAN, DECEMBER 2, ARMENPRESS. The United Arab Emirates marks the 45th anniversary of establishment. A number of high-level officials, diplomats, representatives of non-governmental and other organizations were present at an event organized by the Embassy on the occasion of the National Holiday.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the UAE to Armenia Jassim Mohammed Al Qasimi delivered an opening speech, stating that Armenia-UAE bilateral relations have recorded a significant rise in the recent years.

“Particularly economic and political relations have progressed developing into strategic partnership. The visit of the President of Armenia to the UAE on November 9 gave a new impetus to the relations. In the sidelines of the visit the President held talks with the leadership of the Emirates. Two documents on security, investments and fight against terrorism, as well as three memorandums of understanding in the spheres of education, culture, trade and economy, cooperation over crises and disaster management were signed this year. Emirates’ investments in Armenia have recorded significant growth and yesterday the Armenia-UAE business forum kicked off aimed at developing trade and economic relations between the two states”, the Ambassador said, adding that Armenia-UAE economic forum will be held in March, 2017.

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian also gave a speech, stating that Armenia greatly values its relations with the United Arab Emirates.

“Celebrating this haliday it is impossible not to remember the name of the founder of the UAE Sheikh Zayed and his role in UAE’s development. It was during his rule that basis for Armenian-UAE inter-state cooperation was set that develops firmly today. Nearly a month ago the visit of the Armenian President to the UAE took place during which key agreements aimed at developing bilateral relations were reached. Over two dozens of legal documents have been signed between the two states. Tourist flow has increased in the recent years and the number of airlines as well”, Edward Nalbandian concluded.
