Increase of acute respiratory diseases documented among minors in Armenia

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 22, ARMENPRESS. Daily monitoring of the healthcare ministry suggests activation of acute respiratory viruses these days is especially observed among minors, which in its turn is the reason of overloaded children’s hospitals in Armenia.

It is noteworthy though that there are no patients with post-influenza/pneumonia complications. The healthcare ministry is working to facilitate the overload of hospitals.

The ministry told ARMENPRESS a prevention program is underway to avoid further spread of influenza and respiratory diseases in pre-schools and schools. The program’s purpose is prohibiting children with influenza-like symptoms from attending school. On November 21 alone, circa 1800 children with flu symptoms were sent home from schools across Armenia, with clinics and medical facilities being notified.

During the last one month, the H3 subtype of Influenza A and other respiratory virus agents are circulating in Armenia, Europe, as well as Georgia, Russia, Ukraine.
