Armenia and NATO have stable and reliable relations – “NATO Week” kicks off in Armenia

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 14, ARMENPRESS. The 10th series of events of “NATO Week” kicked off in Armenia.

NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia James Appathurai delivered a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony via Skype attaching an importance to holding such event in Armenia.

“I am satisfied with speaking with you in this way since NATO and Armenia have very stable and reliable partnership about which I don’t think the majority of Armenians are aware and assess enough since it is not always that we are advertising what we have done. From the policy and practical perspective quite reliable and long-term relations are established. One of the vivid examples of the partnership is Armenia’s support to the peacekeeping operations in Kosovo and Afghanistan. It shows how important role Armenia has and can have from which we are grateful. In reality we are doing many things together, for instance, fight against corruption in the defense sector to which, I think, the Armenian Government shows a quite serious approach. A lot of things are taking place, we are going to continue with the same spirit”, James Appathurai said, reports “Armenpress”.

Head of the Arms Control and International Security Department of the MFA of Armenia Gagik Hovhannisyan presented the series of November 14-18 events and said the major goal is to present the public the actions which Armenia develops within the frames of cooperation with NATO alliance.
