FMs of Iran and Poland sign MoU

YEREVAN, MAY 30, ARMENPRESS. Foreign Ministries of Poland and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding during Iran FM Mohammad Javad Zarif’s visit to Warsaw, “Armenpress” reports, the Foreign Ministry of Poland informed on May 30.

Zarif visited Poland on May 29: he met his Polish counterpart Witold Waszczykowski. They stressed the importance of creating favorable conditions for trade between the two states.

“We remember about 500 year-old Polish-Iranian relations. Iran has been and remains an important economic and political partner of Poland”, Waszczykowski said.

Iranian Foreign Minister ensured that “Poland and Iran have wide prospects of cooperation in numerous business sectors”, and added that his delegation included also representatives from private and banking sectors who hope to develop cooperation with Polish partners.

“Memorandum of understanding gives hope that our people will use the positive experience of the past to develop the cooperation in the future”, Zarif stated.

Issues related to the international security and regional situation, including the Syrian conflict were also discussed during the meeting.

Zarif visited Poland by the invitation of Waszczykowski and became the first Iranian Foreign Minister to visit Poland within 12 years.

A meeting between Zarif and Prime Minister of Poland Beata Szydło is scheduled.

Iranian FM will also attend the Polish-Iranian economic forum, reports TASS.
