Mother of killed soldier: Motherland that does not forget those martyred to protect it is invincible

YEREVAN, JANUARY 27, ARMENPRESS. The mother of Karen Hovhannisyan, who was killed protecting the borders of his Motherland, has not resolve herself to the loss of her son yet, but she is proud that her son was killed in an act of feat and his feat has not been forgotten. “Armenpress” reports Karen Hovhnnisyan was posthumously awarded with Medal of Courage by the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan.

The mother of the martyred serviceman, Anush Hovhannisyan, came to the Presidential Palace to receive the medal, after which she went up to the microphone and delivered a touching speech. “It is hard to be mother, let alone mother of a martyred son. You give birth, take care of your child, spend sleepless nights, but you cannot predict the fate. The fact that my son lost his life for the sake of his people, defending his Motherland consoles me to some extent. I cannot resolve myself to the loss of my son till now. Grief accompanies me every second. Every night, when going to sleep, I talk to him, tell how I spent the day, and I say “good morning” to him every morning. It’s very hard to tolerate all these, but I tolerate and go on living, because my son would wish that. I highlight the fact that my son’s feat has not been forgotten and that the top leadership of the country remembers and appreciates that feat. This night I will tell my son that he received the award for his feat. It is said that the Motherland which does not forget those martyred to protect it is invincible. We do not forget our sons and that means that our Motherland is eternal. This day is its proof. I wish that no Armenian mother to mourn the loss of her son”, Anush Hovhannisyan said.

Private soldier Karen Hovhannisyan was shot dead by the enemy’s sniper on August 12, 2015.
