YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 24, ARMENPRESS. The Turkish Foreign Ministry has summoned a number of ambassadors accredited to the country. “Armenpress” reports that the Turkish “Hurriyet” periodical informs about this. Particularly, the MFA has summoned the Ambassadors of the USA, France, China and the UK.

Earlier, Russian chargé d’affaires in Ankara had been summoned to the Foreign Ministry as Russian Ambassador Andrey Karlov was in Istanbul planning the upcoming visit of Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Russian Defense Ministry has announced that the Russian Su-24 aircraft was shot down on its way to the Hmeymim airbase in the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic by a Turkish F-16 fighter. “Analysis of the objective monitoring data definitely showed that there had not been any violation of the Turkish air space”, reads the statement.

Turkish side assures that the aircraft was downed for air space violation. The statement issued by the Chief of Turkey Armed Forces General Staff mentions that a plane of unknown origin was shot down after it violated the Turkish airspace despite repeated warnings. The aircraft was warned 10 times in 5 minutes.
