Economist: Armenia should develop production and export of strategic products to EEU

YEREVAN, JULY 21, ARMENPRESS: Economist Ashot Tavadyan evaluates the Armenia’s economic activity growth of 3,8% to be positive, though he states that the scenario of the country’s economic development needs to be corrected. According to the information, provided by the National Statistical Service of the Republic of Armenia, during the months January-June 2015, the economic activity growth of 3,8% exceeded the indicator of the same period of the last year.

Ashot Tavadyan told Armenpress that it would be desirable that the economic activity growth is characterized by export increase, which would have an essential impact on the GDP.

“It is very important especially for such a small country as Armenia, because in such countries the GDP-export ratio should be 30% to provide for a considerable growth of the economy, though now Armenia’s indicator is 15%. Certainly, the economic activity growth is positive and it can have an impact on the growth of the GDP, though to have a considerable growth, we should increase the export volumes and create working places to have a considerable increase of the Domestic Gross Product”, - said the economist.
