YEREVAN, JULY 8, ARMENPRESS. The National Archives will publish the work “Estates of Armenian Church in Ottoman Turkey” in English and in Armenian in fall 2015. The work contains legal documents of the assets of the catholicosates of Etchmiadzin, of the Great House of Cilicia, of Constantinople and of Jerusalem. Those assets are located in the territory of Turkey.

As Armenpress reports, the Director of the National Archives of Armenia Amatuni Virabyan announced this in a press conference on July 8. The work will also be translated into English in the future. Amatuni Virabyan stressed the importance of publishing the documents in the context of the lawsuit filed to the Constitutional Court of Turkey under the leadership of Aram I – Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia of the Armenian Apostolic Church. The lawsuit was filed to demand to return Sis Catholicosate to its legal owners. Virabyan also mentioned that the process of digitalization of archive materials is on, adding that 1 million materials have been digitalized since 2010.
