PACE changes formulation unacceptable to Armenia in Nagorno-Karabakh issue

PACE changes formulation unacceptable to Armenia in Nagorno-Karabakh issue

Strasbourg, June 23, Armenpress. The formulation, which was unacceptable for Armenia, has been changed in PACE report on Nagorno-Karabakh. As Arpine Hovhannisyan - Armenian delegate to PACE and MP – reported, the phrase “Assembly is fully aware of the occupation by Armenia of Nagorno-Karabakh and seven other provinces of Azerbaijan,” was replaced with “Assembly is fully aware of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.”

On June 11 Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian received the Co-Rapporteurs of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Axel Fischer and Alan Meale.

On the request of the guests Edward Nalbandian presented the cooperation between Armenia and EU as well as the approaches of Armenia on regional issues. Speaking about the efforts exerted by Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs towards peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, Minister Nalbandian mentioned that the decision of PACE to draft a report on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue could undermine the Co-Chairs’ activities as well as the negotiation process.
