New agreement on labeling cigarette packs to enter into force in EEU Common Economic Space in 2016

YEREVAN, 29 MAY, ARMENPRESS. Member states of the Common Economic Space of the Eurasian Economic Union are drafting a new international agreement on labeling cigarette packs. The Republic of Armenia is also participating in the process. According to “Armenpress”, this is whatDeputy Head of the State Health Inspectorate Gohar Tanajyaninformed during a press conference organized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day.
The task force created for the drafting of the agreement is discussing the sketches for trademarks informing buyers about the damages of cigarette products and the requirements for placing them on cigarette packs that will later be submitted to cigarette producing companies. According to Tanajyan, the agreement will be signed next year.“The agreement will be finalized within 12 months. EEU member states have been given time to familiarize themselves with the sketches and the forms presented with the international agreement and express their positions. The agreement will enter into force in the period between mid-2016 and early 2017,”Tanajyan added.
