YEREVAN, 20 MAY, ARMENPRESS. On May 19, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Karen Tchshmarityan received newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the South African Republic (SAR) to the Republic of Armenia Christian Albertus Basson. Greeting the guest, Karen Tchshmarityan mentioned that the Armenian government attaches importance to partnership between Armenia and countries of the African region, particularly the South African Republic and referred to the partnership as perspective for Armenia, taking into consideration the fact that the SAR is one of the most liberal countries of Africa from the perspective of trade regimes, legislation and the conditions that are offered to businessmen.

 As the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia reports to “Armenpress”, the minister talked about the peculiarities and advantages of doing business in Armenia, the favorable conditions for foreign trade, as well as the international cooperation with the Republic of Armenia and the opportunities of the Diaspora. Mentioning the fact that the IT sector, reprocessing, production of construction materials and the tourism sector are developing in Armenia, Karen Tchshmarityan added that bilateral cooperation could be established in the mentioned sectors. He set aside jewelry as a perspective sector, but emphasized that other directions for cooperation needed to be examined as well.

 Ambassador Christian Albertus Basson expressed gratitude for the cordial reception and briefly presented the overall economic situation in the SAR and the main directions of the policy on trade.

 To establish and develop business relations with Armenia, the Ambassador of the SAR attached importance to direct contacts between businessmen and expressed willingness to help organize the reciprocal visits of businessmen.
