Georgian MP links non-recognition of Genocide to Tbilisi-Ankara relations

YEREVAN, 20 MARCH, ARMENPRESS. Deputy of the National Assembly of Georgia Victor Dolidze says the Parliament of Georgia won’t be recognizing the Armenian Genocide in the near future. According to him, the reason is because it is a very delicate issue that is linked to several factors. As “Armenpress” reports, Georgianologist Alik Yeroyants posted a comment about this on his Facebook page.“According to Dolidze, the Parliament of Georgia isn’t recognizing the Armenian Genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Turks due to the existing relations between Tbilisi and Ankara. The Georgian deputy clearly accepts the fact that Georgia is guided by the policy of not hurting Turkey with regard to recognition of the Armenian Genocide, but on May 20, 2011, the Parliament of Georgia unanimously recognized the genocide of the Cherkez, without thinking twice.

P.S.: On the occasion of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide, the Armenian deputies of the Parliament of Georgia are drafting a resolution condemning the Armenian Genocide, which will soon be submitted to the Parliament for discussion,” wrote the Georgianologist.
