“The Star of the Near East Relief” Project for Armenian Genocide remembrance launched in
Armenia

YEREVAN, 26 DECEMBER, ARMENPRESS. The Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute (AGMI) is launching a project called “The Star of the Near East Relief”, which is devoted to the mission and legacy of the world’s largest relief efforts of the United States of America during the years of WWI and which, unfortunately, is forgotten and overlooked in the memories and current policies of Americans. Interestingly, the legacy of the Near East Relief set an example for relief efforts around the world.

Currently, the collection of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute includes more than 700 museum items linked to the Near East Relief Committee, including posters, postcards, fundraising booklets, stamps, badges and medals, as well as the diaries of the members of the Near East Relief, memories of orphans, objects at orphanages and personal items. Nearly 500 original photos showing the efforts of the Near East Relief are included in the AGMI collection, which is one of the world’s largest collections of items linked to the story of the Near East Relief.
