UK and German Ambassadors call on Azerbaijan for peace

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 22, ARMENPRESS. The Ambassadors of Germany and the United Kingdom to the Republic of Armenia condemn downing of Armenian helicopter by the Azerbaijani armed forces and call on Azerbaijan for humanism, highlighting that peace must be established on the border and the site of incident.

In a conversation with “Armenpress”, the UK Ambassador to the Republic of Armenia Katherine Leach underscored: “What happened on November 12 is a horrible event, a tragedy. We offer our condolences to the family members, relatives, and friends of the three pilots that have been killed. This is a big tragedy and the Great Britain joins all those statements the international structures have previously made.”

The Ambassador of Germany to the Republic of Armenia Rainer Morel underscored: “This tragedy is another prove that the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict has no other options, but peaceful negotiations and dialogue. In this regard, Germany again expresses its support and assistance to the OSCE Minsk Group, certifying that the issue must be settled within the framework of that structure.”

Among other things, the German Ambassador noted that not allowing the transportation of the bodies of the deceased for eight days is not a humanistic step and, by all means, in such cases humanism must be shown, as the loss of human life is the biggest loss.

“We urge to resolve the Nagorno Karabakh conflict on the basis of negotiations with the implementation of the three principles of the OSCE and maintain security in the region,” Ambassador Leach stressed.
