Eastern Partnership Countries to launch Territorial Cooperation Programmes

YEREVAN, JUNE 27, ARMENPRESS. Representatives of the Eastern Partnership countries will gather together on July 4, 2014 in Georgian capital Tbilisi to give a start to the territorial cooperation grants programmes. The office of the program realization of  Eastern Partnership Territorial Cooperation informed Armenpress that international Conference “Launching Eastern Partnership Territorial Cooperation Programmes” will be held in Tbilisi Marriot Hotel (13, Rustaveli Avenue, Tbilisi 0108 Georgia).

 For the first time the representatives of central and regional authorities as well as the civil society organizations from all six Eastern Partnership countries will gather together to discuss priorities, objectives, institutional basis and management mechanisms of the Eastern Partnership Territorial Cooperation Programme (EaPTC). The expected impact of territorial cooperation projects on regional development will be in focus of participants’ discussions. The Conference will provide the unique opportunity for further strengthening contacts and establishing partnerships for finding joint solutions to common development challenges of the EaPTC eligible regions. The organizer of the event is the Eastern Partnership Territorial Cooperation Support Programme (EaPTC Support Programme), funded by the EU. The head office of the EaPTC Support Programme is located in Tbilisi. The accreditation of journalists is open until 16:00 of the 3d of July, 2014 by e‐mail: beraiak@gmail.com or tel: (+995 5 77) 17 17 25 Background: The main objective of the Eastern Partnership Territorial Cooperation Support Programme (EaPTC Support Programme) is to create a favourable environment for territorial cooperation programmes along the borders Armenia – Georgia, Azerbaijan – Georgia, Belarus – Ukraine and Moldova – Ukraine with due regard to specifics of each border area, as well as to strengthen the capacity of local and regional state and non‐state actors to jointly develop and implement cross‐border projects. The overall EU contribution to EaPTC – 12.5 million EUR. The Eastern Partnership (EaP) is an European Union initiative directed at six countries of Eastern Europe and the South Caucasus: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The initiative aims at closer relations between the EU and the Eastern partners, deepening their political co‐operation and economic integration.
