Recognition and compensation are sole way to pass: response of Uruguay Parliament Deputy to
Turk Ambassador

YEREVAN, MAY 14, ARMENPRESS. The Chairman of the international relations committee of Uruguay Parliament Ruben Martinez Uelmon responded to the letter of the Ambassador of Turkey to Uruguay Taner Garagasen which contained the address of the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the Armenians and the international community on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

The Armenian National Committee in Uruguay informed Armenpress that in the response letter the Deputy thanked the Ambassador for the letter which contained the entire content of the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s address made on April 23. He noted that he was familiar with it since it was an address directed to the international community.”I consider it my duty to inform You that the Eastern Republic of Uruguay implicitly recognized the Armenian Genocide in 1965 by 13 326 resolution adopted on April 20 after which my country became the first in the international family to recognize the Armenian Genocide. On the same day of that address the Parliament of Uruguay held the commemoration ceremony devoted to the 99th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. Deputies and representatives of all the parties in my country attended the ceremony conveying their message on that occasion,” the response letter said.
