Armenian young people struggle for just resolution of Armenian Genocide: Historian

YEREVAN, APRIL 18, ARMENPRESS. Our main problem ahead of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide is not fight against the Turkish denial which is a trap by the Turks, but we must constantly fight being a demander for the sake of the return of our homeland. In the 20th century we were not only destroyed physically, but were deprived of homeland, which was the main problem of Turks to bring their pan-Turkish ideas into life. Armenpress reports that at the course of the conference entitled “Tasks of the Armenian Youth ahead of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide” the Director of the History Institute of the National Academy of Sciences Ashot Melkonyan expressed such a view.

“After 1965 when the issue of the Armenian Genocide was raised by the Armenians on the international level, unfortunately we were involved into a wrong game which was a trap by the Turks. The Armenian struggling before the claim of the Armenian Genocide became a fighter against the denying Turk in the recent 50 years. Now it is very important that we conceptually raise the issue of the claim. In this sense many issue arise before the Armenian youth. But we need to note that the youth is very enthusiastic, that they are not filled with the psychology of deprival like the previous generations, but fight for justice,” Ashot Melkonyan said.
