Treaty on Armenia's accession to CU to be signed after talks on goods

YEREVAN, APRIL 18, ARMENPRESS. The treaty on Armenia's accession to the Customs Union will be signed when the negotiations on setting out exceptions for the main products are over. The treaty on Armenia's accession to the CU is not anticipated to be signed on April 29, as earlier stated by some of the media. During the meeting with the journalists on April 18, this was officially announced by the Acting Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Vahran Avanesyan. "The preparation of the treaty depends on the negotiations related to the goods, in respect of which Armenia wants to obtain exemption from the CU customs duties. They are to serve as the basis for the preparation of the treaty.  Any part of the content of the treaty will become clear after the end of the negotiations”- as reports  "Armenpress", citing the Acting Minister.

In the result of the negotiations on September 3, 2013 in Moscow the Presidents Sargsyan and Putin confirmed the aim of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation in the direction of further development of economic integration processes in the Eurasian territory. In that context the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan announced about the Armenia's decision to join the Customs Union and the necessity of implementation corresponding steps for that aim and in future about participating in formation of the Eurasian economic union. The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin expressed his support to the abovementioned decision of Armenia and informed about the readiness of the Russian side to support the process.
