USA enthusiastic about being largest energy investor in Armenia: John Heffern

YEREVAN, JANUARY 31, ARMENPRESS: The agreement on the sale of the Vorotan hydroelectric power station complex CJSC to a US firm will bring considerable investments to Armenia in energy sector. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Armenia John Heffern told about that on January 31 at the meeting with the journalists.

“This will be the largest investment made in Armenia’s energy sector by the USA ever – 180-250 million”, - he said.

According to Heffern, one of the most prior issues of the US representative office in Armenia is the formation of stronger commercial and investment ties with the Armenian state and the signing of this deal is one of the proves for that. “We are quite encouraged. This is very important for any country in sense of energy security as well”, - said the US Ambassador, Armenpress reports.
