Demand for reparation will not end with Armenian Genocide centennial

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 28, ARMENPRESS. The old year was very abundant for the Armenian National Committee of Australia. A row of achievements have been recorded this year and the Republic of Armenia, the Nagorno Karabakh Republic and the Armenian people in general had their significant contribution. “Armenpress” News Agency had an interview with the head of the Armenian National Committee of Australia Vache Ghahramanyan.

- Mr. Ghahramanyan, 2013 was a rich year for the Armenian National Committee of Australia. What is Your assessment of the activities conducted this year?

- In the beginning of the year the two houses of the New South Wales unanimously ratified a document on the recognition of the genocides of the Assyrians and Greeks and reaffirming the bill on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide adopted yet in 1997.

Due to the efforts of the Armenian National Committee of Australia Justine McCarthy, who is a well funded denier of the Armenian Genocide, cancelled two planned events in Sydney and Melbourne on the grounds of his unwelcome denialist views.

John Alexander, the Liberal Member for Bennelong, and Michelle Rowland, the Labor Member for Greenway, have both risen in Australia's Federal Parliament to speak against visiting Armenian Genocide denier, Professor Justin McCarthy. (THE FULL VERSION OF THE INTERVIEW IS AVAUILABLE IN ARMENIAN)
