YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 30, ARENPRESS: Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan made a working visit to Saint Petersburg, a photographic exhibition presenting Armenian nation’s life in 20th century in Western Armenia – Van, was opened at national museum of the northern capital of Russia. “Armenpress” was informed, that the photos are from ethnographer Miller’s photo collection, which were taken from Western Armenia during Spring of 1915.

Consul general of Armenia in Saint Petersburg Vardan Hakobyan noted during the conversation with journalists, that Armenian cultural trail in Russian northern capital is a huge one.

“Miller’s collection is very rich. In the photos you can see Armenian clothes, garbs, craftsmen’s works. The museum is famous in the whole world, and the fact of opening an Armenian exhibition in the national museum is very important one ”- said he. According to Vardan Hakobyan, Turkey was also interested in Millers collection about 3 years ago with the aim of presenting the collection as a Turkish heritage. “We negotiated with the museum directorate in order not to provide the photos to the Turkish party, and we succeeded. Besides we reached an agreement on printing an album of the collection. In some years Miller’s collection will receive an Armenian passport ”- said consul general.

Prime minister got acquainted to the exemplars presented by the South Caucasus nations. Minister of Culture of the Republic of Armenia Hasmik Poghosyan said, that the traditional lifestyle of Armenia, Nagorno Karabakh, particularly Shushi was presented at the exhibition. Prime minister’s delegation also visited Isakiev temple and Hermitage, Armenian exhibition. Here were presented different exemplars from Urartu kingdom century, cross stones from Ani and other things found during excavations.

Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan noted: “I am glad, that Armenian culture is everywhere. It is very presentable, I would also like to highlight the visit to Hermitage, where was the Armenian corner”.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan will take part in Armenian-Russian economic intergovernmental commission session on October. The co –chair of Armenian party will be the Prime minister, and the minister of transport Maksim Sokolov from the Russian party.

Among the members of Armenian governmental delegation are Head of staff of Armenian government Vache Gabrielyan, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Vahram Avanesyan, Minister of Transport and communication Gagik Beglaryan, Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan, Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan, First deputy minister of territorial administration Vache Terteryan and others.
