PSR Commission launched discussion of gas and energy tariffs

PSR Commission launched discussion of gas and energy tariffs

YEREVAN, JUNE 7, ARMENPRESS: The Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia began the session dedicated to the discussion of the tariffs for the natural gas and electric energy. As reported by Armenpress, the agenda of the Commission’s session was approved without against and neutral votes. The Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia Robert Nazaryan informed that the three issues of the agenda relate to the gas tariff and the other three – to the electric energy issue. The civil activists, gathered at the PSRC building, try to fail the Commission’s session.

Armrusgazard CJSC and Transgaz LLC applied to the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia, offering to raise the current gas tariff from AMD 132,000 to AMD 221,000. It was suggested to raise the present price for the gas from 132,000 AMD to 221,000 AMD for the users (subscribers), who consume up to 10,000 normal cubic meter of gas monthly, VAT included.

The Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia has already completed the entire revision of the tariffs for the natural gas and electric energy and in the result of the revision process the PSRC finds it reasonable to fix 156 AMD as a new price for 1 cubic meter of gas, VAT included.

The tariff for the electric energy is intended to be increased by 7-8 AMD.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan sent an official letter to the Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia Robert Nazaryan. In accordance with the letter the Government of the Republic of Armenia will subsidize the gas tariff for 30 percent.

On May 15 the citizens gathered at the building of the Government of the Republic of Armenia demanding not to raise the price for the natural gas and on May 29 the protesters gathered at the building of the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia and failed the discussion held at the PSRC.
