India studies investment potential in Armenia’s diamond production

YEREVAN, MAY 31, ARMENPRESS: In case of finding corresponding potential in the field of diamond production in the Republic of Armenia, Armenia could become a partner country and make investments. This was reported to Armenpress by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to the Republic of Armenia Suresh Babu, touching upon the prospects of development of the Armenian-Indian relations in the field of diamond production.

Suresh Babu stated that he has been appointed the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to the Republic of Armenia for already three months and he is currently studying our country’s potential in the sphere of diamond production and other fields for making investments.

In case of finding corresponding potential in the field of diamond production in the Republic of Armenia in the result of the studies, India could become a partner country and start a mutually beneficial cooperation thus developing the possibilities of the Armenian side in this field.

In 2012 1500 carats of diamonds were exported from the Republic of Armenia to India. During the previous year 135 thousand 900 carats of diamonds were exported from the Republic of Armenia. In the first three months of the year of 2013 67 thousand 300 carats of diamonds were exported from Armenia with the total customs value of 24 million 400 thousand USD.
