Armenian EU Visa Facilitation Agreement to be signed on December 17

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 14, ARMENPRESS: Negotiations on the facilitation of visa regime are ongoing and the agreement will be signed on December 17. Armenpress quoted Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian as saying during the joint conference with Foreign Ministers of Poland, Sweden and Bulgaria, accordingly Radosław Sikorski, Carl Bildt and Nikolai Mladenov. On Nalbandian’s words the agreement will provide Armenian youth and cultural figures with an opportunity to visit EU countries. Edward Nalbandian expressed gratitude to his counterparts from Poland, Sweden and Bulgaria for their visit to Armenia. “Today we have rather developed bilateral relations with these countries which are based on centuries-long friendly relations,” Minister said, underlining that the cooperation was developing within bilateral and multilateral frameworks.

Nalbandian mainly mentioned the initiation of the Eastern partnership the origins of which belong to Sweden and Poland which continued to have a crucial role in it till now. Minister noted that there was a great progress in negotiation of Association Agreement and establishing of deep and comprehensive free trade area.

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski reaffirmed their willingness to support Armenia in EU integration process. “2012 was a year of intensive dialogue for EU-Armenia relations. We must be rather insistent for the negotiations to succeed,” he said.

Bulgarian Foreign Minister Nikolai Mladenov noted that EU-Armenian relations could only flourish and assured they would because there was the needed interest. Swedish Minister underlined that Armenia was a European country but at the same time it was situated in area which had its own peculiarities.
