Armenian chess players have the 2nd and 3rd positions in Bil tournament

YEREVAN, AUGUST 1, ARMENPRESS: Armenian grandmasters Sergey Movsesian and Hrant Melkumyan gained victories in the 8th round of international chess tournament which takes place in Swiss city Bil. Movsesian and Melkumyan win correspondingly Maxim Turov and Gerlef Meins. Now they have 6 points and are in 2nd and 3rd positions. Armenpress was informed about this from Armenian chess federation.

Armenian chess players have 0.5 points less than French grandmaster Romen Eduar.

Sergey Movsesian is an Armenian-born chess grandmaster who used to play for Czech Republic for most of his career, later he represents Slovakia for better condition and citizenship certificate there, but as of late 2010, Movsesian announced that he plays for his home country of Armenia. He was a member of the gold-medal winning Armenian team at the World team Chess Championship in Ningbo 2011.

Hrant Melkumyan won the international Internet championship organized by the ICCchess Internet portal. In 2006, he won the U18 silver medal at the World Youth Chess Championship.
