YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 8, ARMENPRESS: Nobody uses "Holocaust" term to define the Armenian genocide: the latter is defined by the wording of "genocide", Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandyan said February 8 at the National Assembly, referring to the latest statement of the Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, that Holocaust cannot be compared with any other historical event, Armenpress reports.

"Genocide wording is used in a dozen of countries and in numerous international organizations which have recognized the Armenian Genocide," said the Foreign Minister of Armenia.

According to Mr. Nalbandyan, when Raphael Lemkin first used the genocide term, it was based on the very example of Mets Yeghern of Armenians. Afterward that term was also used by different international structures in different international documents.

The Foreign Minister also reminded that Professor Israel Charny, who is the Executive Director of the Institute on the Holocaust and Genocide in Jerusalem, said that it is enough to occupy oneself with playing with words and called on Israel to recognize the Armenian Genocide. "I think it is apparent that Charny has not voiced this statement taking into account political profits. It is evident to everyone, including those in Israel, that Charny perfectly knows the meaning of Holocaust and Genocide," said Mr. Nalbandyan.
