Transfer of casinos outside of capital Yerevan to develop incoming tourism

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 7, ARMENPRESS: Casinos will operate outside of Armenia's capital Yerevan from January 1, 2013. They will be located in Tsakhkadzor, Jermuk, Sevan, 500 meters away from educational and historic-cultural centers, state institutions, hospitals. Press service of Finance Ministry told Armenpress that casinos will operate in the territory of "Zvartnots" airport and "Yerevan" free economic zone.

Their transfer to separate zones aims at promoting the development of incoming tourism, which will contribute to the development of infrastructures in these territories. The international experience shows that the organization of such activity in separate places promotes the development of other entertainment centers and becoming a place of rest and entertainment.

For already ten years the Armenia law "About Winning Games and Casinos" bans organization of casinos and winning games in Yerevan.
