Exhibition dedicated to the 1050th anniversary of establishment of Ani opened today in the "Academia" gallery of the RA National Academy of Sciences. The exhibition is organized by the Armenian government, Araratyan Diocese and Union of the World Armenian Artists. Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, cultural-public figures were present at the opening of the event.

Co-chairman of the Union of the World Armenian Artists Ghazar Mirzoyan said the exhibition presents 72 works painted by 26 artists. He noted that while painting they took the photos by Zaven Sargsyan, director of the Parajanov house-museum. "On their basis the artists started to paint and afterwards, they visited Ani for one day where they painted sketches", Mirzoyan said. He said it is very interesting that none of the works of artists is similar to the other.

Artist Harutyun Harutyunyan said while painting he had various feelings. "It was not only sadness and longing: everything was mixed", he said adding that saying Ani he imagines a great social-cultural achievement. "Ani is everything for us", the artist said.
