Powers of one of police officers involved in torture case temporarily suspended

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 23, ARMENPRESS. The powers of one of the police officers involved in an alleged case of torture were temporarily suspended based on the decree of the acting Police Chief of Armenia, the Police told Armenpress.

As a result of the investigations the powers of head of the Chambarak town police department Narek Simonyan have been temporarily suspended.

The Police informed that actions are being taken to reveal the identity of the remaining persons involved in the same case.

On November 21 a footage was released online showing a group of man torturing a person. According to some media reports, the men conducting torture were police officers, and the incident took place in one of the police departments.

Investigation continues.
