President Sarkissian visits tropical garden in Aygedzor bordering community of Tavush province

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian visited a tropical garden founded by Mels Babayan in Aygedzor bordering community of Tavush province, the Presidential Office told Armenpress.

The 78-year-old village resident established a unique garden of tropical plants and trees. Along with apples and plums, he grows kiwi, banana trees and palms.

The President toured the garden, talk to its owner and was interested in the harvest process. “We met with Mels Babayan who has spent some part of his life abroad, but returned back and bought a garden. There is a creation in this garden, it includes our traditional trees, fruits and vegetables”, Armen Sarkissian told reporters, welcoming the fact that the garden owner is also trying to grow palms along with them. “There is a meaning in this, because by trying to do the impossible sometimes you can get strange results”, he said.
